Lee is the Lead of Emergency Care with the Clinical Services and Systems unit at WHO HQ. Prior to this, Lee served as head of emergency medicine for Western Cape Government and Head of the Division of Emergency Medicine at the University of Cape Town. He is a Past President of the International Federation for Emergency Emergency.
